There exists a myriad of species, hybrids and cultivars of flowering cherries. Mid to late March is the time in Marin to see the bloom of single or double flowers in shades of pink or white. Some are also notable for glossy bark or weeping branches. All are subject to root rots if grown in poorly drained soil.
